Why did you decide to start Austin Angels?

For the past few years I have had a strong desire, or gnawing at my gut to find a volunteer group to serve in, but could never find my place.  With Austin Angels, I have a peace that I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be.  I feel I can best use my talents with this group to serve our community.

What is your favorite charity (besides Austin Angels of course!)?

Any charity that it’s goal is to help orphaned, or abandoned/abused children.  Children are so precious and helpless, and all they really need is to be loved and feel safe.  Austin Lab Rescue.  I am a huge dog lover and have a bleeding heart for any lost, hurt or lonely animal.  I am a doggie parent to the sweetest lab.

Favorite Book:
Eat, Love, Pray by Elizabeth George.  I was inspired by her search to find her true self and know that it is okay to be true to yourself.  I am looking forward to reading the Alchemist and a New Earth next.  I am told they are very inspiring and have come highly recommended.

What are you most grateful for?
Many things, I know I have been truly blessed.  My faith in the Lord and my amazing friends and family, whom my life does not work without.

If you had one wish for the world what would it be?
To end pain, loneliness.  To fill it with unconditional love and peace.

If you had any “special power” what would it be??
To accomplish my wish for the world.

What is your goal for Austin Angels?
Honestly, this is such a fantastic group, I would want it to grow nationwide.  Maybe every state could have  Austin Angel groups and then you would have a country doing at least one volunteer project a month.  Yes, I like to dream big!

What do you have to say to new Volunteers who join Austin Angels??
I think that once they experience Austin Angles they will want to become a part of us.  I believe that we are made up of  incredible people, who are all here for the right reasons.  We truly have a desire, passion to serve, bring hope , or just somehow bring a smile to someones’s face.  We have  a lot of fun and everyone is welcome.  No matter if you can only spare an hour, or a whole day, every bit given makes a difference in someone’s life.  And we do have a lot of fun too!!

Who is your living Hero?
 My grandmother
